Today marks the first anniversary of Carson Yeung being convicted on five counts of money laundering. The former Birmingham International Holdings and Birmingham City President was taken down to Stanley Prison to await sentencing on his case after hearing District Judge Douglas Yau Tak-hong describe him as a “habitual liar”.

Four years ago today a Frenchman collided with a Pole allowing Obafemi Martins to score probably the easiest goal in his career and secure the Carling Cup for Birmingham City, the first major trophy for the club in 48 years. Watching in the crowd was the then-President of Birmingham City, Carson Yeung – who was celebrating his 51st Birthday (and apparently winning a £250,000 bet with Balram Chainrai).

Just when you thought things looked like they have been sorted out, it appears that they are a bigger mess than ever. Carson Yeung, in a 5 page notice in the Hong Kong Standard has unilaterally called an EGM for March 12.

BIH Debunk Carson’s Claim, Hearing Cancelled

Birmingham International Holdings have confirmed to the HKSE today that owing to errors made by Carson Yeung’s legal team, there will be no hearing on May 6 to hear his application against the company and that it has been thrown out by the Judge.

What’s Going On? An Analysis of Carson’s Latest Move

Lawyers representing Carson Yeung were in the High Court yesterday to make an application against Birmingham International Holdings, the receivers from Ernst and Young and the share registrars Tricor Tengis to prevent the sale of Birmingham City by EY, to force through the EGM he requested in December and to examine the share register.

Lawyers representing Carson Yeung were in court today trying to force through an EGM requested by the former hairdresser of Birmingham International Holdings in his capacity as largest shareholder and to prevent the immediate sale of Birmingham City.

BIH Call in Receivers

Announcements made by BIH and Birmingham City today have confirmed that Birmingham International Holdings have appointed Ernst and Young as receivers to the company. The appointment has NOT been made due to the company going into liquidation; rather as a response to the continued and prolonged civil war that has plagued the boardroom over the past few months.
