Blues have confirmed that six out-of-contract players will not be offered new deals for next season and will leave the club. Mark Duffy, Neal Eardley, David Edgar, Lee Novak and Wes Thomas join Mitch Hancox on the non-retained list with only club skipper Paul Robinson’s future left to be sorted.

Defensive Cover
Since the collapse of the signing of Rob Kiernan a few weeks back, Birmingham City have not brought in any defenders to strengthen their back line. Although Blues go into the season with four seasoned centre-backs, there are concerns among some sections of fans with respect to David Edgar, Jonathan Spector and Paul Robinson being up to the task.

Davis and Edgar
Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett faces a selection dilemma this weekend after David Davis limped off with a knee injury in midweek. Davis has played in every single league game since Rowett was appointed Birmingham City manager and his absence from the Blues midfield will be difficult to replace.

Thinning Out
Neal Eardley yesterday joined the burgeoning ranks of Birmingham City’s loan rangers, joining Leyton Orient on a one month loan deal. With David Edgar joining Huddersfield Town until the end of the season, Olly Lee joining Plymouth and Guy Moussi’s short-term deal not being renewed the first team ranks at Blues has shrunken somewhat in the last few days.

The Return of the Brummie Bashers
Birmingham City are closing in on the Bosman free transfer of Clayton Donaldson from Brentford to bolster their frontline. The 30-year-old striker would be the seventh signing of the summer if he does come to the club following the Bosman captures of Jonathan Grounds, Stephen Gleeson, David Edgar, Wes Thomas and Gavin Gunning along with the loan signing of Grant Hall.

Return of the Wessiah
Wes Thomas completed his return to St Andrews on a Bosman free transfer from Rotherham United, signing a two year deal twelve months after completing an eleven game loan spell with the club.
