Changing to Stay the Same?

Talking Points sponsored by John Hicken Industrial roofing and cladding materials

It’s been a busy few days recently for Peter Pannu and Birmingham International Holdings. An executive director, an auditor and a new company secretary appointed whilst the former secretary is shunted aside. News of a potentially failed bid from a fairly big hitter in Hong Kong – all prior to a trip back to these shores for BIH CEO, MD and executive director Peter Pannu for the Christmas period.

Winter of Discontent

Talking Points sponsored by John Hicken Industrial roofing and cladding materials

It was revealed on Saturday morning that Peter Pannu was returning to the UK with the news that talks with one of the HK consortiums interested in Blues have stalled and potentially fizzled out. Whilst the news that a potential new investor may well not come to pass now isn’t great it’s the first real confirmation we’ve had of a potential buyer from the former colony.

The Six Thousand Mile Gap

Talking Points sponsored by John Hicken Industrial roofing and cladding materials

The intermittent saga of the Birmingham City takeover seems to have gone into another hiatus with absolutely nothing coming from either Paladini or Pannu in the past seven days. With less than six weeks now to go until January the likelihood of a deal being completed before the transfer window is slowly evaporating and the patience of Blues fans is being tested.

Pannu v Paladini

To say the last twenty four hours have been crazy would be an understatement. We had news Paladini was hopefully of sealing a deal, Pannu denying any talks were in place before an afternoon session of the hokey-cokey of in-out in-out as Paladini prevaricated as to where he stood on the bid.

Do The HK Consortium Exist?

Whilst an Italian consortium fronted by Gianni Paladini has been the first group to put a formal offer on the table for the Blues, there has also been talk of a Hong Kong-based consortium being in the running for the club. Is it possible Blues will stay in Chinese hands?
