Birmingham City tumbled to another home defeat yesterday, going down 4-2 to Bournemouth despite a second half rally where Federico Macheda scored twice. The result leaves Blues in 20th place, five points ahead of Barnsley in 22nd who have a game in hand.

Using Every Tool
Birmingham City were comprehensively beaten 4-1 by Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough yesterday to extend their winless run to four games, with the club having only taken nine points this calendar year in thirteen league games.

With the defeat to QPR on Saturday there has been much debate online as to whether Lee Clark is the right man for the Birmingham City job. With just two home wins this season and a gap that is slowly closing between Blues and the relegation trap door is it time to move on from the Clark era?

You Can’t Win Anything With Loanees
Birmingham City fielded what is thought to be their youngest ever starting XI on Saturday with an average age of just 21.8 – which was only brought up to that level by the presence of 34-year-old Peter Lovenkrands and 31-year-old Brian Howard.

Centre Halves
Paul Robinson picked up his tenth booking of the season against Swansea City and will now miss the next two games against Derby County and Leicester City. Kyle Bartley is returning from injury and will compete for a spot with Hayden Mullins and Will Packwood but longer term Birmingham City will need to do something about the centre half spot.

Overload
Birmingham City completed the signing on loan of Albert Rusnak on Tuesday to bolster their attacking midfield options in the wake of Jesse Lingard’s non-return from Manchester United. However, Rusnak is the eleventh player to be considered a midfielder to have signed in Lee Clark’s 18 month reign. Are we signing the right players?

Lee Clark has been nominated for the SkyBet Championship Manager of the Month award for December along with Mick McCarthy of Ipswich, Billy Davies of Nottingham Forest and Steve McClaren of Derby County for a month which saw Blues continue their unbeaten run.

Positivity Sunday
Birmingham City stretched their unbeaten sequence to six games with a third away win on the spin against Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth. It was Blues’ first victory against the Cherries on their home patch in 22 years and completed the best sequence of away results since January 2012 when Blues won four away games on the spin (Millwall, Wolves in the FA Cup, Sheffield United in the FA Cup and Leeds United).

Tis the Season To Be Jolly
Birmingham City comprehensively beat Barnsley at the weekend 3-0 thanks to goals from Paul Caddis (2) and Nikola Zigic. The result means Blues are unbeaten in 3 games – their longest unbeaten run since April and recorded their first back to back league away wins since April 2012.

A Springboard To Better Things?
Birmingham City hauled themselves out of the bottom three with a morale-boosting 3-1 win over Huddersfield Town, despite having Kyle Bartley sent off for a second bookable offence with the referee deciding that he had been over-exuberant in his celebrations for his second goal.
