Asset of Community Value Delay: What Can We Do?
The Blues Trust reported this week that Birmingham City Council have delayed their decision on the application made by the Trust to have St Andrews registered as an “asset of community value”.

Securing St Andrews
One of the frequent questions I see amidst this current period of woe for Birmingham City asks if the current board can sell St Andrews. The ground, which has been home to Blues since Boxing Day 1906 is one of the few remaining assets that the club can call as its own and I think it’s understandable that fans are worried it could be sold.

Sharing St Andrews
It’s been rumoured in the local news that Coventry City could request a groundshare at St Andrews having moved their staff and effects out of the Ricoh Stadium last week. Coventry, whose owners put a non-trading subsidiary into administration last week are in court tomorrow to contest £1.3mil in unpaid rent to stadium owners, Arena Coventry Ltd (ACL).

The More, The Merrier
One would have to be living under a rock for the last few months to not know about the Olympics currently taking place in London, such as the wall-to-wall coverage within the media. One thing I picked up on today was about the problem of empty seats at some of the venues, and whilst I was listening to the chap from LOCOG talking about solving the problem it led me to thinking about St Andrews and the problems Blues have with filling it.

Stand Up For The Blues
The Carling Cup Final at Wembley. The Europa League games. The Carling Cup Quarter final against Villa at St Andrews. All of them memorable occasions, full of atmosphere, of noise and of feeling. And at every one of them, for the entire duration of the matches, I was stood watching. It’s not hard to see why people want a return of the terraces to the football.

The Block Eleven Controversy
It’s been brewing for a few weeks, and I think it came to a head during the Blackpool game when other fans in the Tilton Road end started booing Block Eleven for singing their “we’ll sing on our own” ditty. Are block eleven the last bastion of atmosphere at St Andrews, or are they smug fans who think they’re better than the rest of us?

Hitting The Bar At Half-Time
I don’t know about you, the reader, but I’m tired of writing articles arguing the toss about financial mismanagement, players leaving and the end of the world at Blues. I thought for this article at least, I’d change the subject somewhat to the idea of half time entertainment.

Supporters Club Forum
Yesterday, Blues held their end-of-season Supporters Club Forum meeting, and I got to attend courtesy of Andy at www.smallheathalliance.com, on the condition I’d act as scribe and take notes for him. As such, I present my report from the meeting:

Attendances
Today my attention was caught by this article in the Birmingham Mail about declining football attendances in the West Midlands. It’s not something we as Blues fans didn’t already know about, but I think the question as to why it’s happening is worth asking.

To build, or not to build.
News today broke that the Birmingham City board were looking into increasing crowd capacity at St Andrews by redeveloping the Garrison Lane stand to take St Andrews up to 46,000 seats from the current 30,009. There has been a bit of reaction to this on the messageboards, and I thought I’d put my twopennorth forwards. […]
