A New Deal for Diop?
Lee Clark will have to make the decision over the next few days about whether or not to extend the contract of former Fulham midfielder Papa Bouba Diop. The 34-year-old Senegalese midfielder signed a one month contract with Blues on October 19 and has yet to make an appearance for Blues although he has been an unused substitute.

Big Win For Young Blues – Professional Development League Report vs Huddersfield Town
A cold St Andrews saw Birmingham City’s development squad comprehensively beat Huddersfield Town in their first home fixture of the Premier Development League. Blues however had a man of the match performance from goalkeeper Nick Townsend to thank as he made several saves to keep the Terriers out in the second half before Akwasi Asante made it safe.

Youth versus Experience
Once again it appears Blues are down to the bare bones of their squad again with injuries to central midfielders Guirane N’Daw, Keith Fahey and Jordon Mutch leaving Chris Hughton with the age-old selection headache of going with out-of-position experienced players or chancing it with a rookie. It’s something that gets talked a lot about on forums and I thought I’d jot down my thoughts on it.

Ipswich Preview
Today sees Blues make the trip to Portman Road for their 58th fixture of the current campaign against Paul Jewell’s Ipswich Town. Blues need a win to further cement their place in the playoff spots whilst Ipswich are pretty much playing for pride, with neither promotion nor relegation within their reach.

Loans, loans, loans…
Much has been made of the amount of games Blues have left to play this season (a minimum of seventeen), and the current thinness of the squad over the last few days. The sale of Beausejour seems a bit bizarre bearing in mind Blues were supposed to be okay on the money front and are now without a truly left-sided midfielder in the first team. Where do we go from here?

A Bridge too far? The Chelsea FA Cup 5th Round Preview
Today sees Birmingham City take on the mighty Pensioners of Chelsea for the right to be in the draw for the quarter finals of the FA Cup. It’s a tough draw for Blues but last year proved that sometimes you can’t count on your reputation to win the game.
