Rookie goalkeeper Nick Townsend was given a first team squad number ahead of Birmingham City’s game with Yeovil after Darren Randolph sustained a broken nose and gashed hand against Leicester City.

Koby and Ryan
Two goals from Lee Novak and one from birthday boy Andrew Shinnie saw Blues win 3-0 over Swindon Town at the County Ground last night. Clark was quick to praise his team, stating that he was pleased how the players had adapted to a different formation than previous weeks and expressed delight in how some of the younger players had performed.

Broken Specs
Jonathan Spector has been ruled out for up to around six weeks after fracturing his cheekbone in freak circumstances in the final minutes of last week’s private friendly defeat against MK Dons. The American international took a tumble and slammed his face into an opponents knee.

Pre Season News Round Up
Blues have left out Marlon King and Peter Lovenkrands from their 21 man squad to travel to the Republic of Ireland next week. Both players have been told that they can leave the club on free transfers and have seemingly been left out as Clark plans his Blues team without them next year.

The Case for Defence
