Expectations
Birmingham City kick off the new football season in just five days with the visit of Watford to St Andrews. After a mixed pre-season results-wise Blues finished with an encouraging 2-1 win over Premier League side Hull City and now Lee Clark has the job of ensuring that the positives from that game are translated into the league season.

Keep, Sell or Release – the Kids
With the end of the season nearing and with so many players out of contract I thought it would be a good idea to go through the squad and analyse who I think we should keep, who we can get away with selling and who needs to be released. This is the fifth of five installments of that analysis.

Tough Draw for Blues Development Squad
A scrambled goal from Papa Bouba Diop rescued a point for Blues Development Squad against Barnsley at the Wast Hills training ground yesterday. Barnsley took the lead late in the first half through Jordan Clark before Diop’s effort on the stroke of half time levelled things up.

The Kids Are Alright
Despite the much-needed win over Middlesbrough on Friday night I can’t help thinking that November has ended a bit of an anticlimax for Blues fans. The long-awaited trial of Carson Yeung is now even more long-awaited after a successful application for adjournment – ensuring he remains in limbo for another five months yet. Coupled with the fact Blues are seemingly no closer to a takeover despite the media posturing of Gianni Paladini and Peter Pannu and all in all November has turned out to be a bit of a damp squib.

A New Deal for Diop?
Lee Clark will have to make the decision over the next few days about whether or not to extend the contract of former Fulham midfielder Papa Bouba Diop. The 34-year-old Senegalese midfielder signed a one month contract with Blues on October 19 and has yet to make an appearance for Blues although he has been an unused substitute.
