Gossip Folks Week Four
It’s the halfway point in the transfer window now, and I thought it was time to take another look at the transfer window spreadsheet I’ve been building.

Lions or Pussycats? Millwall Preview
The games are coming thick and fast now and Saturday sees Blues’ third game in seven days as they travel to South London to face Kenny Jackett’s Millwall. Blues are on a bit of a roll having won their last two league games at home and they’ll be hoping to take that form with them to the New Den.

Palace Preview
After the heartbreak of failure to qualify for the Europa League Knockout stages it’s back to the Championship to face Dougie Freedman’s Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. If Blues are to continue their push for the playoffs and beyond this is the sort of game that they will need to get a result from.

Sub Keepers
With the Football League voting to reduce the subs bench back down to five from seven from this season, there is more pressure than ever on managers to pick the right players as substitutes in order to change a game. It’s my opinion that there is a possible way to cirumvent this a little – and that’s not to name a sub keeper.

Loyalty
The Bristol City game saw Keith Fahey making his one hundredth appearance for Birmingham City, joining Stephen Carr and Liam Ridgewell as one of three players at the club with appearances in three figures. It got me thinking about player loyalty – there were of course more players with bigger amounts of appearances but our summer sales saw a fair few leave – and I thought I would discuss it further.

A Mad Mission to Maribor
When I was at university, oh so many moons ago I grew tired of drinking in the same old watering holes in town, and thus my friends and I decided to undertake “mad missions” whereby we’d go to another city (as far away as we could), get legless, and then get home – all without sleep, and all within 24 hours. Maribor, well… it was just like that.

Positives in defeat
Well, it wasn’t a cricket score. Although Birmingham City have now fallen at their first hurdle in the defence of the Carling Cup, it’s not anywhere near as bad as it could have been; if anything Blues have come out with a bit of credit from the fans who did go and we’ve one less thing to worry about in our action packed season.
