Ticket Allocations and Policing

It took a while but yesterday the away allocation for Blues for the League Cup 3rd round tie was finally confirmed to be 2,800. Predictably, the number of tickets available has not gone down well with BCFC with some fans on social media fearing that trouble at the game will be almost inevitable due to fans sitting in home areas etc.

Upcoming Supporters Club Forum

Blues will be holding another supporters’ club forum on Thursday 16 April and I’m pleased to be able to say that I will be attending. While they won’t be able to answer questions on the ongoing froo-fraw in HK what they can and will talk about is the matchday experience, ticketing and other day-to-day concerns.

Mediocrity is Boring

With nine games left in the league season it increasingly looks like Birmingham City have nothing to play for. With 47 points on the board the threat of relegation is all but gone; and with only nine games left the chances of promotion are nil. As the season draws to an (anti)climax, are we all getting bored of it?

The Ownership We Deserve

With Jeremy Wray’s takeover of Birmingham City seemingly stalled once again people online have questioned whether BIH want to sell the club. Although there is undoubtedly difficulties in selling the club due to the intertwined nature of its finances with BIH and the hoops that the regulatory authorities want BIH to jump through, one does wonder if there is other reasons for the continued delay in news let alone a sale.

Great Expectations

One thing that seems consistent in player interviews during the pre-season training camp was the emphasis on how the team were aiming to do much better than last season. There is a collective urgency from the players and staff to stress that they are aiming for the top half of the division rather than scrapping for survival on the last day as they did back in May at the Reebok stadium.

Home and Away

Blues won their third win on the bounce away from home at the weekend and continued an unbeaten sequence that stretches back six matches, climbing to fourteenth in the table. Lee Clark has spoken about confidence being high in the Blues camp and has praised the way the players have adapted to what he wants them to do.

Delay No More: An Update

Talking Points sponsored by John Hicken Industrial roofing and cladding materials

About a month ago whilst I was in the far east I talked about a newspaper interview I had given to the Cantonese press, mentioning a slogan – “Delay No More” – which I thought was apt for the situation and which I thought could be used if people wanted to how visually their unhappiness at the current situation.

The Apathy Situation

Talking Points sponsored by John Hicken Industrial roofing and cladding materials

A lot of comment and discussion was provoked online yesterday by Colin Tattum’s excellent comment piece in the Birmingham Mail where he discussed the malaise and apathy surrounding Birmingham City. The crux of the piece talked about the apathy surrounding the club and how it couldn’t continue for much longer if the club was to rise again any time soon.

The Blues Trust announced at their AGM on Saturday that the council have agreed to list St Andrews Stadium as an asset of community value. The listing which lasts for five years and is subject to appeal will mean that the Trust will be notified of any potential change of ownership and can, if requested, be given up to six months to come up with a bid of their own.

Divided We Fall

It’s been an interesting twenty-four hours since we signed Paul Caddis. In some ways there has been a seismic shift in fans opinion; from talk of protest, of flags, of adverts in the HK press and the like to discussions of how things are actually okay because the club have stumped up £150,000 for Caddis and potentially might loan a striker or two in the window.
