Trialist revealed
Details of one of the trialists in the 2-1 reserve win over Southampton on Tuesday have broken online. Those of you who frequent BCFC messageboards will have seen that one of the goalscorers was 19 year old Leamington FC forward Jacob Blyth.

Children are the future
Over the past few years, there has often been a criticism levelled at Birmingham City for not bringing through enough youngsters from the academy; for not developing enough of their own talent through the ranks – basically, not giving the kids a go. One positive that I think that can come out of the current financial climate is that maybe Blues will be in a position whereby they are forced to bring more youngsters into the squad.

Friday News Round-Up
Instead of waffling on about something I’ve already covered a couple of times before, I thought I’d put together a roundup of news from the last few days.

Polishing Diamonds
It’s been a good end to the week hasn’t it? Not only a win against European opponents, a good performance from the team and a new Blues legend is born. Well, maybe it’s a bit too early to be throwing around the “L” word, but with performances like that it’s going to be hard to keep Redmond’s ability secret.

Give Hughton a Chance
One thing that is clear from all the reports I’ve seen from people who went to see Blues play yesterday at Middlesbrough is that the team is knackered. They tried hard first half, did well first half but the after effects of playing in Europe kicked in in the second half, and the team just fell away. It’s understandable really, and shouldn’t be used as a slight against them or Chris Hughton. However, with one and a bit weeks left in the transfer window, it’s getting down to a time period when things need to happen.

Solihull Moors v Birmingham City Reserves Friendly Match Report
Here are my reflections on the Solihull Moors vs Birmingham City XI friendly. 1) An enjoyable game This was the fourth pre-season friendly I’ve managed to get to (two first team and two reserve) and it was probably only rivalled by Saturday’s game against Everton for being enjoyable. Whilst Blues lined up with just one […]

Who is Robert Stambolziev? (Worcester City v Birmingham City review)
A sunny day in Worcester saw the first game of the 2011/12 season for Birmingham City, as they sent out a very youthful XI to take on the Faithfuls at St George’s Lane. I made the trip along with Andy (head honcho at www.smallheathalliance.com) to check out our young guns.
