Off and Running
Birmingham City completed their first league victory of the new season by beating Gary Johnson’s Yeovil Town 1-0 at Huish Park on Saturday. The only goal came from former Blues target and Yeovil defender Dan Seaborne who put through his own net.

Replacing King
Birmingham City striker Marlon King appears to be on his way out of St Andrews after Lee Clark confirmed that the London-born Jamaican international striker was close to agreeing a deal with a new club. King, who has scored 32 goals in his two seasons at Blues was made available for a free transfer in May as Birmingham City looked to cut costs.

Getting Ready for the new Season
Birmingham City face Hull City tomorrow at St Andrews in their final friendly of the pre-season before the Championship season kicks off on August 3. Lee Clark has been reported as saying that he intends to field his first XI against Hull as he looks to finalise his plans for the season.

No Contract for Davis?
Blues boss Lee Clark has told the local press that he can’t give any guarantees over the future of trialist Liam Davis despite the ex-Oxford United player impressing in Ireland. The 26-year-old, who can play at left back or left midfield drew plaudits from Clark but worries over financial constraints mean that as yet no concrete offer appears to be forthcoming.

Lee Clark affirmed to Colin Tattum of the Birmingham Mail yesterday that Blues were not in the market for any more strikers, denying recent reports of links to Islam Feruz of Chelsea and Connor Wickham of Sunderland.
