Children are the future
Over the past few years, there has often been a criticism levelled at Birmingham City for not bringing through enough youngsters from the academy; for not developing enough of their own talent through the ranks – basically, not giving the kids a go. One positive that I think that can come out of the current financial climate is that maybe Blues will be in a position whereby they are forced to bring more youngsters into the squad.

Knocked out but still proud – Europa League review v Maribor
Here are my reflections on the Blues v NK Maribor game tonight at St Andrews. Please be aware that due to me feeling like death with man-flu and vertigo, I watched this on ITV 4.

Much too Much to ask of Mutch?
Despite not having figured in the Blues first team since the 1-0 win over Coventry back on August 13, manager Chris Hughton has confirmed that Jordon Mutch will be in the match day squad for the crunch tie against Maribor tonight at St Andrews. There’s been a bit of a clamour on messageboards for Mutch’s return with central midfield considered the weak link in the Blues team, and I thought I’d discuss it.

Off to Partizan – the Braga Preview
Wednesday marks the final away game of the Europa League Group stage, and what is potentially Blues’ last trip into Europe for a while – win or draw and we could be back on tour in February in the knockout rounds; lose and that is most likely to be it.

The Second Coming of Nathan Redmond
After being thought of by many as the second coming of the messiah and the greatest Blues prospect since TF himself, October hasn’t been the best month for Nathan Redmond. Zero starts, three games as unused sub and three games where he’s missed out on the matchday squad entirely point to a player who is very much back on the fringes of the squad.
