Relegation
Birmingham City crumbled to their fifth successive defeat last night against Wigan Athletic in a result which now leaves their Championship destiny out of their own hands. A solitary goal from Callum McManaman within 150 seconds was enough to see off Blues, who will now head to the Reebok on Saturday hoping their away form (coupled with results elsewhere) will save them.

The Drop Zone
Birmingham City lost 3-1 to Leeds United yesterday to secure an unwanted all time record for the longest sequence of games at home without a win in the second tier. It also ensured that for the first time since just before the halfway point of the season Blues dropped into the bottom three – and with the last game of the season being played next Saturday this is the almost the worst possible time for Blues to be in this position.

Ups and Downs
Following Blues has always been a rollercoaster of emotions. On Saturday after a 4-0 drubbing of Palace there were quite a few fans talking about the possibility of playoffs and promotion. Yesterday, following the 3-2 defeat to Wolves there are fans looking nervously at the bottom of the table thinking that Blues could yet go down. It is definitely a weird situation.

Storming the Top Six.
Blues end the month of March with their biggest win of the season, beating Crystal Palace 4-0 which puts them in their highest league position of the campaign. Is the “P” word really possible?

The R Word Part II
With just nine games left of the season Blues find themselves in fourteenth place with forty-six points in the Championship. Have they done enough to completely avoid the relegation trap-door?

The P Word
After Birmingham City concluded back-to-back wins for the first time this season in the Championship by beating Nottingham Forest 2-1, the optimists have re-emerged online and I’ve seen people dare to mention the P-word. Is it possible?

The R Word
Birmingham City yesterday drew 2-2 with Brighton and Hove Albion to remain in 20th place with 31 points, five ahead of the drop zone. With just eighteen matches remaining this season relegation is looking a more and more serious threat – are Blues truly in danger?

Silver Linings
As the league season reaches its penultimate week, I’ve been thinking back about things that have happened and how I’ve felt about this season. It’s almost passé now to talk about the “trials and tribulations” that Blues have suffered in the summer of 2011 these days because its been gone over so often. A lot of the good that has happened this season has been seen to happen despite the stuff that Blues suffered last year. I want to offer the contentious opinion that relegation, the McLeish saga and the Yeung arrest were all blessings in disguise for Blues.

Up and down
One thing with relegation is it’s not something that’s new for Birmingham City. Indeed, we’ve been up and down so often we should be called the Vengaboys. Bouncing back from relegation is something we’ve become good at, and as Mr_Kwacky pointed out on twitter, it might be something worth looking at.

To buy or not to buy: that is the question
Yesterday I took the plunge and renewed my season ticket for the 2011/12 season. Blues have reported online that season ticket sales are good, and that the figures for renewals are above what they were at this point last season.
