Return of the Eck – Forest Preview
Today sees the return of Big Eck to St Andrews as Blues look to try to complete back to back wins for the first time this season. It promises to be a fiery day as it’s the former manager’s first return to the club since he left in the summer of 2011.

Silver Linings
As the league season reaches its penultimate week, I’ve been thinking back about things that have happened and how I’ve felt about this season. It’s almost passé now to talk about the “trials and tribulations” that Blues have suffered in the summer of 2011 these days because its been gone over so often. A lot of the good that has happened this season has been seen to happen despite the stuff that Blues suffered last year. I want to offer the contentious opinion that relegation, the McLeish saga and the Yeung arrest were all blessings in disguise for Blues.

Backs to the Wall
I’m not a fan of the winter. It’s cold, it’s depressing and it causes football games to be cancelled. With Blues game not going ahead due to a frozen pitch, it left me to watch what was going on around us this weekend. Here’s what I thought.

In Hughton I Trust
It’s been a busy week down St Andrews, and for once it’s been because of the football – two home games, four goals and a fair few chances made has equated to some good times watching the beautiful game. I’ve said a few times before on this blog, but I’m so much more enthused by this season. I don’t think I’m alone either.

Rumours
Don’t believe everything you read. You’ve heard that before, haven’t you? It’s as true now as it’s ever been, yet some people still jump on every little rumour they hear. Football is one of those things that thrives on rumours, hearsay and gossip and I want to talk about this further.

The McLeish Saga: Yet another statement
Tuesday 14th June was quite a momentous day in midlands football. Despite all three parties supposedly keeping their counsel and leaving it in the hands of lawyers, all three – McLeish, Aston Villa FC and Birmingham City FC made statements with varying degrees of bombast about how they were right, the others were wrong and that they were having the last word. Billy Smart would have nothing on the sideshow that yesterday was.

Is McLeish a Judas?
Well, it’s never been dull being a Bluenose. There’s been a ton of rumours today about Blues, McLeish and Villa – the facts however are the club have said that there has been no contact between Villa and Blues about McLeish. I thought I’d look at the “Judas” allegations though.

What next for Birmingham City?
Before we go any further, let me warn you: this isn’t a “news” type post. There’s going to be tonnes of that flying around in the next few days, and I won’t be blogging fast enough to keep up with that. Instead I’m going to be a little bit egotistical and use this post to jot down what I’m thinking right now about Blues, and what I think of the future. Speculation and conjecture ahoy, basically.

McLeish Gone
Just over twenty four hours after I swore blind I couldn’t see McLeish going to the Villa, it’s come out that he has tendered his resignation from Birmingham City. Although there has been no announcenent yet as to what is happening, McLeish is now odds-on favourite to take the job at Villa Park.
