Football League Considering Drastic Measures Over Parachute Payments
Championship clubs met yesterday to discuss radical proposals in light of improved parachute payments to relegated Premier League clubs next year. Thanks to a windfall of £5.5bn in TV rights relegated clubs will be given a payment of £59mil over a four year period, a 22% increase on the current deal. The new deal will supposedly see clubs receiving £23mil in the first season, £18mil in the second and then £9mil in the two years after it, whilst the “solidarity payment” paid to other clubs in the Championship would increase by just 5%.

Home Wins and the Lack of Them in the Championship

I heard a statistic quoted from the Tom Ross show at the weekend about the paucity of home wins in the Championship and bearing in mind Blues have lost two on the bounce at St Andrews it set my mind thinking. Is this evidence that the Championship is more even than ever before and thus maybe proof we shouldn’t be so worried about our form as we have been?

Great Expectations?
At around nine o’clock this morning Blues fans will find out how the 2012/13 season in the Championship will be played; when we can expect the big local derbies, the games against the relegated Prem teams and the upstarts from League One. It’s also a time when I begin to think about the new season and what we as fans should be expecting from our club.

Half-term report

Nearly half the season has elapsed now, and I thought it was a good chance to step back, take stock of where Blues are and where they should be; and maybe to discuss where Blues should be come the season’s end.
