A Positive Start Against The Addicks? Blues v Charlton Match Preview
The Championship season starts today with the visit of Charlton Athletic to St Andrews. The Addicks, who won League One haven’t played in the second tier for three years and will be looking to make an immediate impression on their return. Blues, who thrashed Barnet 5-1 in the Cup in midweek will be looking to make it two wins in two at home as they start their quest for promotion to the top flight.

Right Back To The Drawing Board?
There was an interesting thread on smallheathalliance.com concerning the issue Blues have surrounding the right-slot. With Stephen Carr not likely to make the game, Jonathan Spector out for a while yet and now Will Packwood having picked up an injury which way do Blues go?

Sunny Delight: Blues Win in Shrewsbury
Blues ran out 2-1 winners in a tough fought friendly at the Greenhous Meadow in Shrewsbury. Goals from Mitchell Hancox and Nikola Zigic sealed a win for a Blues side that saw trialist Darren Carter come on to rapturous applause in the second half.

An impressive start
The first match of Lee Clark’s reign pointed to what could be a very good year for Blues when they played Borussia Mðnchengladbach yesterday. Whilst the draw might have flattered Blues considering the amount of spurned Gladbach chances, the performance was one of a good quality for the first game back after the summer break and showed signs of promise.

Injuries and Cover
With Stephen Caldwell hobbling off the pitch last night suffering with a groin injury, Blues are stripped even further to the bone injury-wise. If we take the worst-case scenario that none of the currently injured players are fit to return against Brighton at the weekend Blues are back down to four senior defenders; one true first-team central midfielder and a bunch of wingers and strikers. Who do Blues bring in?

Packwood Showing Promise
It’s been a good season for the Blues Academy; former scholars Jordon Mutch and Nathan Redmond have both had plenty of match action and there have been a smattering of debut appearances for various other graduates such as Callum Reilly, Eddie Gnahoré and Akwasi Asante. One player who has made a matchday 18 but hasn’t yet appeared on the pitch is American teenager Will Packwood.

In for a Hiding? Chelsea FA Cup Replay Preview
After Saturday’s disappointing draw with Derby County, Birmingham City have to raise their game for the visit of a Chelsea side that is in turmoil and maybe ready to show the world that the sacking of Villas-Boas was the right move by Abramovich.
