The Tiendalli Question

Dwight Tiendalli remains in the Blues squad as they travel to Gloucestershire to face National League side Forest Green Rovers in their second pre-season friendly. Tiendalli was originally on a week’s trial with Blues while the first team squad were playing in Marbella but the Dutchman has seen that extended by at least a fortnight to allow him to play in two warm-up games.

Money, Money, Money

The start of July sees the transfer window officially open and with teams coming back for pre-season training now it’s likely we’ll see much more action in the transfer window.

Scouting Europe

It almost seems ironic that as Britain gets ready for a referendum on whether the country should remain a part of the EU, Birmingham City are pumping more money into scouting players that could come to the club under the freedom of movement rules.

No Security Should Equal Pulling Out

I don’t often talk about international football but with the furore that has surrounded the events in Marseille at the weekend I wanted to touch on some thoughts about what happened and why I think it’s worrying for the future.

In Flight Positivity

If there is one thing that has been proven in the last two years or so, it’s that having a figurehead for the club’s owners resident in Birmingham is good for the club. Regardless of what he’s actually done the biggest thing Panos Pavlakis has achieved in my eyes is to be seen as a force for good by a large number of Blues fans.

June Swoon

June is upon us and in my eyes anyway, the transfer season proper. With football contracts traditionally expiring on July 1 this is the time of year now to tie up the Bosman free transfers and to get a head start on who will come in before pre-season starts up again.

Squad thoughts

With Paul Robinson being confirmed as having signed his deal I thought it might be worth putting together a look at the Blues squad as it stands – to try and get to grips with the job Gary Rowett and Panos Pavlakis have to do this summer in the transfer market.

Wider Nets

It’s that time of year when the transfer rumours start up, and the internet goes into overdrive as some ITK or another says we’re after player x from club y. There hasn’t been much in the way of rumours yet barring Danny Graham but I’ve seen another couple of strikers mentioned that I wanted to talk about.

A Quiet May for a Change

It’s the first weekend of the close-season and it’s all gone quiet around St Andrew’s. Gary and the players are no doubt on holiday somewhere, Panos is out and about in the Chinese restaurants and bars in town (I saw him in the Arcadian this time last week) – and I’m at home scratching around for something to write about.

What If?

Blues completed their league campaign with a 1-1 draw against Cardiff, giving them a 10th placed finish with 63 points – exactly the same as a season ago. David Cotterill’s fourth goal of the season was cancelled out by Anthony Pilkington as Blues couldn’t quite sign off with a victory.
