Thirteen games left – unlucky for Blues?
With Blues now out of the cup competitions, the focus turns fully onto the league. Unfortunately, things are not looking as rosy as they once were; Blues have stumbled a bit and now lie nine points off automatic promotion with just thirteen games to go. Can Blues do it?

Unpopular Tactics
So, the Blues unbeaten run came to an abrupt end at the weekend. Having had a little while to think about it, I’ve come to the conclusion that one thing cost us more than everything else – and that was the change from the 4-5-1 Blues have been playing recently to what you think would think is a more natural 4-4-2. I know this may be heretical, but right now I think we’d be better off playing just one up top.

Five Year Deals
One thing I have noticed continually cropping up in the comments here and around the messageboards is how much Blues fans admire Chris Hughton, and how people think that he’s worthy of an vastly extended contract. Whilst I admire the sentiment, I think it’s misplaced.

The Season So Far In Numbers
With last night being our fifteenth match unbeaten in all competitions (matching the unbeatables run of 2009/10) I thought I’d take a look at some of the other statistics out there in what is turning out to be an amazing season for Blues.

Moving On Up
So, another away game, another three goals and another three points. Blues seemingly brush another opposition team aside as they push on in the race for automatic promotion. With fifteen league games to go, can we do it?

Loans, loans, loans…
Much has been made of the amount of games Blues have left to play this season (a minimum of seventeen), and the current thinness of the squad over the last few days. The sale of Beausejour seems a bit bizarre bearing in mind Blues were supposed to be okay on the money front and are now without a truly left-sided midfielder in the first team. Where do we go from here?

The Cost of Success
It appears the managerial merry go round is just starting up with Mick McCarthy getting the push at Wolves – and to a lesser degree as a result of the FA calling Fabio Capello’s bluff and accepting his resignation. The talk on the Birmingham City messageboards has been that of Chris Hughton being enticed away from the St Andrews hotseat for a bigger, plusher and better paying job elsewhere.

Backs to the Wall
I’m not a fan of the winter. It’s cold, it’s depressing and it causes football games to be cancelled. With Blues game not going ahead due to a frozen pitch, it left me to watch what was going on around us this weekend. Here’s what I thought.
