FA Cup
Circumspection on Chelsea

So here we are, back at the top of the week. Our next opponents lost at the weekend, sacked their manager and now have his number two in as an interim cover until the end of the season. I’ve seen some excited Blues fans thinking that this could be good for us; a team in apparent disarray against a fervently backed underdog playing at home. Surely this is our chance?

A Bridge too far? The Chelsea FA Cup 5th Round Preview

Today sees Birmingham City take on the mighty Pensioners of Chelsea for the right to be in the draw for the quarter finals of the FA Cup. It’s a tough draw for Blues but last year proved that sometimes you can’t count on your reputation to win the game.

Arrogance of a Plastic

If there is one thing I hate more than a gloryhunter fan, it’s an arrogant, plastic, gloryhunter fan. You know the kind – the ones who follow a team because they like the colour of the kit or because they’ve been on the telly a few times, who like to remind you that Blues are a little team yet have barely been to the city let alone the ground that their team plays in. It’s why pieces like this one from the Bleacher Report really annoy me.

Rampant Blues

Nine games unbeaten, five games on the bounce, seven hours and twelve minutes since Blues last conceded a goal and fourteen goals in the last four games. Suffice it to say that right now Blues are on a roll.

My view on the ITV Highlights

I’ve never been a fan of ITV, but the coverage of the FA Cup highlights from the weekend shown on ITV1 (starting at 10:30pm Saturday night) took the biscuit. The following letter has been sent in full to ITV in complaint.

Blunting the Blades? FA Cup Blues vs Sheffield United preview

Saturday sees Birmingham City make the journey up to the Steel City and Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United in the fourth round of the FA Cup, sponsored by some American beer. With Blues riding high in the Championship they’ll be classed as favourites to go through, however the Blades are sitting pretty in League One and won’t be any pushovers.

On our way again… Wolves replay reflections
Here are my reflections on the Wolves v Blues FA Cup 3rd round replay at Molineux. I should add that like the most of the Wolves fanbase I watched this one on the box.

The Magic of The Cup

On Saturday Birmingham City will entertain our canine (or lupine, depending on which you prefer) rivals from Wolverhampton in the FA Cup. It’s an interesting match, because I think it’s one that will give us an idea of what the future month holds.
