Time to go direct
Blues face Wolves on Sunday in what really is a crunch match for their playoff hopes. Defeat on Tuesday didn’t help matters but almost every single other team around them dropped points and as such Blues didn’t lose any ground on 6th place.

Another month of speculation
Birmingham City were plunged into more speculation last night with the news that Derby head coach Paul Clement has been sacked. Gary Rowett has been touted by many Derby fans as social media as their ideal choice for the manager’s job in the immediate aftermath .

Further Development
Birmingham City Academy striker Ronan Hale scored four times in the U18 side’s 4-2 win over Coventry City at the weekend. The 17-year-old Northern Irish striker is now up to 13 goals in 13 league and cup games for Blues U18 side having signed from Crusaders in the summer.

Humble Pie
Diego Fabbrini became Birmingham City’s biggest signing in five years, signing for the club in a £1.5million deal that is the largest transfer fee Blues have paid out since they signed Curtis Davies on this day five years ago.

Signing Options
There was a lot of excitement yesterday online about the possibility of Blues re-signing Italian playmaker Diego Fabbrini. The 25-year-old is currently on loan at Middlesbrough but despite having played in 13 of their opening 18 league fixtures he’s started just once since November 25 with Stewart Downing preferred in the “number 10” position.

Dear Gary…
As the second week of the transfer window comes to an end, the level of frustration online with respect to Blues action (or lack thereof) in the transfer window is rising. Having seen what Gary Rowett said about the window on Monday, I wanted to respond in kind with my opinion on where I think we should be.

Positive Intent
2016 is upon us, and with it comes the transfer window which opens tomorrow until 11pm, February 1. As always, it’ll be a time of rumours – which club Dimmy Gray is being watched by, which club Dimmy Gray might move to etc. However, Blues are expected to bring in players too with Rowett talking about looking at bringing in two attackers and a defender.

Purpose and Goals
Birmingham City consolidated their position just outside the playoff zone on Friday with a scrappy 1-0 victory over Cardiff settled by a somewhat disputed penalty scored by Paul Caddis. With just under half the season gone they lie in seventh, a point behind Ipswich and still in contention for a chance of post-season glory.
