Ethics and Football: The Marlon King debate
Morality and Football – do they mix? This is a question that has reared it’s ugly head again after Blues were linked with Coventry City hitman Marlon King.

Staying up fighting
My reflections on the match against Newcastle United today at St James’s Park.

Under Pressure
Tomorrow sees the visit of Wolves to St Andrews, in what can only be described in the classic football cliché of a “six-pointer”. With the end of the season now coming up fast, pressure is starting to bear down on Blues – even more so on Wolves – and tomorrow could be an absolute humdinger.

Unlucky for the Black Cats?
Blues can take another massive step to survival with a win against the Black Cats of Sunderland tomorrow, whilst pushing former manager Steve Bruce’s charges into a relegation dogfight. Whilst the game doesn’t have the same “must win” feeling of the last home match against Bolton, there is the sense that defeat would properly drop us back into trouble

David Murphy
It’s a fact of life that when players are out of the first team, their stock on messageboards rises as fans clamour for their return – especially during a run of poor performances and/or poor results. It doesn’t matter how poor those players have been in other games that season; their omission is clearly what is wrong with the team. Today, I’m going to make my nomination for a player to come into the team – step forward Mr David Murphy.

The Left Side
It’s an important match for Birmingham City tomorrow in the race to beat the drop from the Premiership, against one of their rivals in the relegation fight Blackburn Rovers. Ewood Park has been a tough place for Blues to get points, with Blues not winning there since 1968, suffering five defeats in their last eight trips there. Defeat to Blackburn wouldn’t be the end of the world, but this is a game where Blues should be aiming to win to stay out of the drop zone and maybe force Blackburn into it.

Contracts
As the 2010-11 season draws to a close, eleven Birmingham City players are in a position where they don’t know what club they will play for next season. Under the Bosman ruling, they are free to talk to any club outside of the English League system about a contract for next year, but will have to wait until June 1 before they can discuss terms with another English team. I thought I’d take a look at those eleven players in a bit more detail.

Toon
After two one nil wins on the bounce, the question has to be asked if McLeish should change anything for the visit of Newcastle United to St Andrews tonight. With Aliaksandr Hleb the only player joining long term absentees Scott Dann and James McFadden on the injury list, Eck has the luxury of being able […]
