Brighton Match Reflections
Birmingham City recorded their first home win in the league for a mindblowing 319 days, denying Cambridge United the chance to lose their share in the unwanted record for most consecutive home league games without a win. A Wes Thomas header early in the second half was enough to see off a Brighton side that struggled to cope with Blues’ pressing and tempo.

The Great Escape
An injury time equaliser from Paul Caddis for Birmingham City against Bolton ensured that it was Doncaster Rovers and not the Blues who were relegated to League One. In a “Great Escape” Steve McQueen would have been proud of Birmingham City stayed up by virtue of a superior goal difference to Paul Dickov’s men having come back from 2-0 down against Bolton.

Dear Lee: Leeds Preview
Blues face Leeds today in what is a crunch game in the Championship – win it and the teams around us lose and we are virtually mathematically safe; the reverse and we are in deep trouble. A game without a win today also sets a much unwanted all-time record in the Championship of seventeen home league games without a win. With this in mind I’ve decided to dispense with the normal style of these pieces and address this directly to Lee Clark.

Tis the Season To Be Jolly
Birmingham City comprehensively beat Barnsley at the weekend 3-0 thanks to goals from Paul Caddis (2) and Nikola Zigic. The result means Blues are unbeaten in 3 games – their longest unbeaten run since April and recorded their first back to back league away wins since April 2012.

Caddis And Deadline Day Surprises
After a summer of woe, Birmingham City gave their fans a pleasant surprise at the end of the window with the permanent capture on a three year deal of former loanee Paul Caddis from Swindon Town for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £150,000. It was the second time Caddis signed for Blues on deadline day having signed the Scot on a season long loan on August 31 last season.
