Transfers
Looking forwards to the week ahead
After a hectic few weeks of European games, transfer intrigue and rumour, things promise to die down a bit this week. I suspect it’s going to be a bit busy in the next forty eight hours as Blues finally (hopefully) sort out the sales of Scott Dann, Cameron Jerome and Nikola Zigic; and even more hopefully bring in a couple of bodies to help rebuild the squad.

Ins and Outs: a Transfer story roundup
With all the background stuff going on at Blues, I’ve not talked about the playing side much, so I thought today I’d take a look at the transfer rumours out there and discuss them further.

New Beginnings: A Squad Update
It’s nearly a week since we finally got relegated at White Hart Lane, but there has already been quite a few changes at St Andrews player-wise. I thought it would be a good idea to take a look now at who has gone and who has stayed, and the gaps this has left in the team.

Comings and Goings
One of the most frequent questions I get asked on twitter and on forums is what I think Blues will do transfer-wise this summer. There seems to be a fear online that Blues will not be competing this summer in the higher price brackets for players, due to not having the money; and that with a whole host of players out of contract come June 30 we’re really going to be struggling next year.

The Fear
One thing that has been extensively argued on Birmingham City messageboards this season has been the dour football that the Blues have dished up on a regular basis for the fans. Whilst the team is high on work-rate, and on battling for points, it’s low on creativity and fashioning chances, let alone goals. The accusation is often levelled at Alex McLeish that he is too negative with his tactics, and too careful in the teams he sends out.

Transfer review
Well the window finally clanged shut at 11pm; Sky Sports News collectively orgasmed at three huge deals wrapped up in the last few moments, and up and down the country fans are breathing with relief that it’s all done. Here in Birmingham, it’s not been too bad a window for us on the Blue half […]

Window
Well, today is the day that the window clangs shut. As I sit here this morning watching Dharmesh Sheth work himself into a frenzy over potential deals that have still to be concluded, I can only think about what a circus football has become. Apparently all the sports editors for newspapers up and down the […]

Transfer update
With just three days remaining of the transfer window, what was looking to be a disappointing transfer period for Blues has appeared to have perked up with a couple of potentials on the radar. Probables Curtis Davies – It’s been widely reported that centre back Curtis Davies is to undergo a medical today ahead of […]

A Long January
I’m not a fan of the transfer window. It’s a time of frenetic activity on the part of broadcasters like Sky Sports News, and a time of panic and worry on the part of Birmingham City fans. You know what it’s like; announcements in the news we’re in for X for £Ymillion, and then for […]

Transfer window update
I thought with just under a third of the winter transfer window gone, it would be a good time to have a look at where Birmingham City are, and what to expect. Firstly, transfers: Probables: David Bentley – the winger, signed by Spurs for £15mil in the summer of 2008 has, according to various media […]
