Enjoy the Silence

If the current paucity of Blues stories on Newsnow is to be believed, this is the week that football forgot – at least in the part of the world around St Andrews. To say there is a dearth of news out there is an understatement right now, and it’s made me think about Blues right now from a media perspective.

Where Are They Now? Part IV

Instead of trying to find another angle to talk about Blues in what has to be one of the dullest international breaks ever, I thought now would be a good time to have another look back at former players and ask – where are they now? I thought I’d look at some of the foreign legion who graced St Andrews with their presence, albeit temporarily.

What’s Going On?

I’ve been trying to make sense of what the hell is going on at Blues recently – with stories in the Daily Mirror of financial meltdown at Blues; stories from China of Carson being let off a HK$9.5mil loan, and Peter Pannu apparently refusing to speak to Tom Ross because of an article on this website. With this in mind I’ve had a bit of a think about it all, and I thought I’d share my thoughts with you.

More Chinese Gossip

A couple of days I posted about a loan made to one of Carson’s companies being potentially “written off” because of Carson’s legal problems. There’s been a bit more about it in the Hong Kong press today so I thought I’d bring that to you.

Further Player Sales?

Talking Points sponsored by John Hicken Industrial roofing and cladding materials

It’s a three sentence story in the Mirror, it’s by James Nursey and it’s about how Blues are going to have to sell players again. Yes, despite there being some twelve and half weeks until the new transfer window opens, the bad vibes have started again. Is it because it’s the international break and thus a slow news week, or is it really time to panic at Blues again?

Loan reports

With it being international week, I thought I’d use the break in Birmingham City’s hectic schedule to look at home some of our younger players are getting on out on loan.

Chinese Media: The beginning of the end for Carson?

There was a small announcement made to the HKSE this morning by a company called iMerchants which could have significant bearing on Birmingham City’s future.

Knocking Wood?

One thing I’ve been surprised to read about recently is people knocking our on-loan Kiwi goalscorer Chris Wood for not being “good enough as a footballer”. You’d think a guy who’s got eight goals in eleven games for Blues including a perfect hat-trick against Millwall would be getting more plaudits – but weirdly, there is definitely some criticism of him.

Sticking with what we have

Talking Points sponsored by John Hicken Industrial roofing and cladding materials

One question that has cropped up a bit recently on Often Partisan has been about potential loan signings. With loan season well and truly in full swing there seems to be an expectation from a section of the Blues fanbase that Birmingham City will dip it’s toes into the market and bring in another player or two on a temporary deal. I’m going to be controversial and say that I don’t think Blues need to sign any more loan players.
