Alpaslan Ozturk
Where Are They Now – Part XXIII
As many of you will know I’ve always been interested in the younger players at Blues who have progressed through the academy. Today, I thought it would be interesting to look at a couple of players who didn’t make it with Blues but who have made careers for themselves elsewhere. Both of these players were released in 2011 having not made the grade and both have made their professional debuts abroad. They are Alpaslan Ozturk and Luke Rowe.

Yesterday was a hard day for Alpaslan Ozturk. After being told by the club he wasn’t going to be offered a deal, he tweeted from his account that he had been released by the club because they couldn’t afford to pay the £30,000 compensation for him. Of course, with the parlous state of Blues’ finances being well known, this provoked a certain amount of discussion, debate and anger amongst some Blues fans, who couldn’t believe that the club couldn’t afford thirty grand for a fairly promising youth player. Now, his twitter account has been deleted, and young Alpa has to reflect on how harsh a mistess social media is.

Solihull Moors v Birmingham City Reserves Friendly Match Report

Whilst Blues lined up with just one […]

Squad Analysis Pt II
Yesterday I took a look at the Blues squad, highlighting who I thought was likely to leave, the shallowness of what was left and the areas Blues need to strengthen as a matter of urgency. Now the squad for the five day trip to Ireland has been announced, I thought I’d look at that and reflect further.
