Akwasi Asante
D-Day tomorrow?
I’ve seen some descriptions of tomorrow as “D-Day” for Birmingham City; transfer window deadline, BIH financial results due to be released, and on the pitch Blues have a tough trip up to Elland Road. It promises to be a busy day for forums and messageboards as people check in for the latest news of what is happening. However, I have a fear it’s going to be a massive anti-climax for some.

Young Guns
As you may know, Jake Jervis and Akwasi Asante are out on loan currently to Preston North End and Northampton Town respectively. With Blues currently only having three strikers in the first team squad I thought it would be worth taking a look at the youngsters’ progress.

Peterborough United Preview
Tomorrow sees the second game in four days for Blues, with a trip to London Road to play Peterborough United. It’s another chance for Blues to push up the table, and Chris Hughton will be looking to build upon the excellent win against Blackpool on New Year’s Eve.

Loans in and out
Blues have announced today that Akwasi Asante is to join League Two side Northampton Town on a 28 day youth development loan as of January 1. Asante, who is a 19 year old striker will join the cobblers with a view to getting some first team football but will still train with Blues for one or two days a week.

To Loan Or Not To Loan
The loan window opens tomorrow, and no doubt Chris Hughton will be making enquiries of various managers about what players are available for loan. I’ve been thinking about this, and I think it’s something worth discussing – is loaning in youngsters to bolster our squad good for the long term future of the Blues team?

Polishing Diamonds
It’s been a good end to the week hasn’t it? Not only a win against European opponents, a good performance from the team and a new Blues legend is born. Well, maybe it’s a bit too early to be throwing around the “L” word, but with performances like that it’s going to be hard to keep Redmond’s ability secret.

Squad Analysis Pt II
Yesterday I took a look at the Blues squad, highlighting who I thought was likely to leave, the shallowness of what was left and the areas Blues need to strengthen as a matter of urgency. Now the squad for the five day trip to Ireland has been announced, I thought I’d look at that and reflect further.
