Looking ahead
Do you hear that? It’s the sound of silence; the transfer window has shut, the Chinese rumours have quietened down and it’s pretty dead news-wise in general across the Championship. Welcome to the international break.

CD Nacional 0 v Blues 0 – match report
Here are my reflections on the CD Nacional v Blues Europa League Playoff round, 1st leg match tonight. Please note, I wasn’t lucky enough to go out to Madeira, I watched it on a decent internet stream (thanks Daz and LOF).

Derby County v Birmingham City preview
Well, the new season is upon us. Today sees a Blues team that barely resembles the one that got relegated ten weeks ago travel the short distance to Pride Park to face the Rams of Derby. It’s the Championship.

Beausejour in Argentina
When the Birmingham City players come back for pre-season training tomorrow, there will be at least one notable absentee. Chilean international Jean Beausejour is in the Chile squad at the Copa America, and he should be in the lineup to face Mexico in the Estadio del Bicentario in San Juan, Argentina which kicks off in the early hours of Tuesday morning, British time.

Hughton – a tactical analysis (part I)
At the time of writing, there still hasn’t been any announcement over who will get the Birmingham City manager’s job, although most of the press are now convinced it’s going to be Chris Hughton. As I suspect there will be half a zillion stories in the press tomorrow about who he’s going to hire and fire, buy and sell and what he’s having for his dinner I’m going to strike out in a different direction and look at Chris Hughton’s tactics for his former team, Newcastle United with the aid of the wonderful Chalkboards from the Guardian website.

Scouting for Blues
The Birmingham Mail reported yesterday that Birmingham City chief scout Paul Montgomery has been relieved of his duties. Whilst this hasn’t been confirmed by the club as of yet (probably due to severance being sorted), I thought it was worth looking at what this means to Blues.
