Back to the Football

The Football League yesterday lifted the embargo emplaced upon Birmingham City for failing to produce their accounts on time – and one more of the promises made in Peter Pannu’s statement of last week came true. With the final stumbling block to Blues’ pre-season preparations removed, I thought it would be a good time to reflect further on how things have improved in the last seven days.

Xtep Gone

So, farewell to Xtep. Colin Tattum revealed last night on Twitter that Blues have ripped up the kit deal with the Chinese manufacturer after two problematic years. Whilst at the time of writing there is no confirmation who their replacement will be, I for one am quite happy this turbulent relationship is now over.

Squad Analysis

This time last year I took a lot at the squad and how it was fixed up, to try to identify the areas where Blues needed to strengthen most. Obviously things are slightly different this season as we have fewer players but I’ve tried again to work it out.

Brutal Honesty From Pannu

It has to be said that when Mr Pannu makes a statement, fans listen. I will be honest enough to admit I was expecting some vague platitudes but what we got was something that was frank and from the heart. I’ve tried to take a proper look at what has been said and give my personal thoughts on it.

Adventures in Calling BIHL

As some of you probably know, the Blues Trust have been running a “week of action” this week, urging supporters to contact Birmingham International Holdings to ask polite questions as to what is happening with the accounts, investment and the future.

Small Victories

Over the last twenty four hours Andy Walker (PR and Social Media Manager at Blues) has been tweeting about good things happening next week. I think we all need cheering up, and we all need to look forwards to what can change positively – whilst the BIH accounts thing drags on it doesn’t mean everything stops at St Andrews and I wanted to talk about what could go right next week.

Anger and Frustration

I think it’s safe to say that the sale of Jordon Mutch has gone down like a lead balloon. Judging by the reaction on here, on Facebook and on Twitter there are some very angry Bluenoses out there – and in fairness, I can’t say I blame them. It’s not been a great month for Blues, has it?

Talks With The League

It emerged yesterday that Blues are to meet with officials from the Football League over the transfer embargo that has been imposed against Birmingham City. The Birmingham Mail has today confirmed that the meeting won’t be today (as first thought), but I thought it would be interesting to talk about it anyway.

Jose

One of the first people to throw their hat into the ring for the Blues job is former Birmingham City winger Jose Dominguez. The diminuitive wide man played for Blues for a year in the mid nineties and as I remember was a bit of a cult hero. Could he do the job?

The Search Begins

Well, it’s now confirmed, we’re managerless. I will admit to being in denial right up until the time that Blues confirmed a compensation package had been agreed, hoping that maybe Hughton would have a change of heart. Alas, it was not to be, and now we must move on.
